Top Schools for Reefer Madness

Top Schools for Reefer Madness by: Naomi Nishihara on August 23, 2014 | 0 Comments Comments 2,144 Views August 23, 2014The dispute is a common one: many college students will smoke pot during their stints on campus, and the university staff from RAs to campus police can’t allow that. Students hide their activities better on some campuses than others, however. At the University of Colorado Boulder, which has placed on The Princeton Review’s Reefer Madness list every year for six years, marijuana use on campus is apparent. In the past there have been clashes between students and administration over an annual smoke-out on April 20, and one such clash involved the university closing its campus to visitors and using a foul smelling fertilizer to keep students off the quad, according to the Huffington Post.In the last six years, only 33 schools have made the list and seven, including the University of Colorado Boulder, were listed every year. Though recreational marij uana use is usually considered not addictive, the slow turnover of this list indicates that the culture, at least once in a university setting, is hard to break. The Reefer Madness list may not be as stable in coming years, however. With more and more places legalizing medical marijuana, there appears to be a rise in institutionalized weed like the multiple schools now offering courses on weed and the new Northeastern Institute of Cannabis, in Natick, Mass. which offers a 12 course program and presents graduates with a â€Å"cannabis industry certification† according to the New York Post. But at least for the time being, here are the top schools for  Reefer Madness:The Reefer Madness Rankings From 2015 to 20102015 Rank School2015 Rank2014 Rank2013 Rank2012 Rank2011 Rank2010 Rank  Skidmore College  1  1  4  15  5  2  Eckerd College  2  4  3  8  2  10  The Evergreen State College  3  3  6  11  NR  NR  University of Colorado Boulder   4  2  1  4  6  5  Ithaca College  5  6  17  NR  10  11  University of Vermont  6  5  15  10  4  3  University of Oregon  7  7  NR  NR  14  15  Sarah Lawrence College  8  15  18  19  12  12  Pitzer College  9  8  NR  16  13  14  University of California Santa Cruz  10  9  2  2  1  1  University of California Santa Barbara  11  5  10  3  9  9  State University of New York Purchase College  12  NR  9  NR  16  19  Colorado College  13  NR  14  1  7  7  Guilford College  14  18  16  NR  NR  16  Lewis Clark College  15  NR  13  6  NR  NR  Emerson College  16  17  NR  NR  20  NR  Reed College  17  NR  20  13  NR  NR  Syracuse University  18  20  NR  14  NR  NR  University of Wisconsin Madison  19  14  NR  NR  NR  NR  Marlboro College  20  NR  NR  NR  15   NR  Bard College (NY)  NR  11  11  5  3  4  University of Texas at Austin  NR  13  NR  NR  NR  NR  Green Mountain College  NR  16  5  NR  17  20  West Virginia University  NR  19  12  NR  18  17  Warren Wilson College  NR  NR  7  7  NR  13  New York University  NR  NR  8  12  NR  NR  Grinnell College  NR  NR  19  20  NR  NR  New College of Florida  NR  NR  NR  9  11  6  Arizona State University  NR  NR  NR  17  NR  NR  University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign  NR  NR  NR  18  NR  NR  Hampshire College  NR  NR  NR  NR  8  8  Vassar College  NR  NR  NR  NR  19  NR  Wesleyan University  NR  NR  NR  NR  NR  17Source: The Princeton Review Page 1 of 11
